TURKISH ECAA ROUTE

APPENDIX ECAA EXTENSIONS & SETTLEMENT

Specialist support for existing ECAA route holders seeking continuity or settlement.

OVERVIEW

Appendix ECAA relates to historic arrangements for certain Turkish nationals under the Ankara Agreement. The route is closed to new main applicants, but people who already hold qualifying ECAA leave may still need advice on extensions, settlement or dependant applications.

These applications are evidence-heavy. The applicant must usually show that they continue to meet the requirements of their original route and have complied with the conditions of their stay.

WHO MAY BE ABLE TO APPLY

  • Turkish businesspersons who already hold permission under the ECAA route.

  • Turkish workers who already hold permission under the ECAA route.

  • Eligible dependants already connected to a qualifying ECAA worker or businessperson.

  • Applicants seeking extension of stay or settlement under the relevant Appendix ECAA provisions.

EXTENSION APPLICATIONS

Where the applicant has not yet reached settlement, an extension may be needed. The evidence will depend on whether the person is a businessperson, worker or dependant.

  • Businesspersons should evidence active, genuine and viable trading.

  • Workers should evidence lawful employment in line with their permission.

  • Dependants should evidence relationship, residence and dependency where relevant.

  • Applications should address any changes since the last grant of permission.

SETTLEMENT APPLICATIONS

Settlement provides indefinite leave to remain where the applicant meets the residence, route and suitability requirements. Life in the UK and English language requirements will usually need to be considered unless an exemption applies.

  • Review the qualifying period and continuous residence.

  • Check compliance with the conditions of previous grants of leave.

  • Prepare evidence of business activity or employment history.

  • Address any absences, tax records, business changes or employment gaps.
